The series takes its image from Thich Nhat Hanh, who wrote that a cloud cannot die: it may become rain, snow or ice, but never nothing, and has no beginning and no end. Evoking the ephemeral and transformative qualities of cloud formations, these works bring Javanese gamelan together with instruments of other cultures.
这个系列的意象来自一行禅师：他写道，云不会死去——它可以化为雨、雪或冰，却不会化为虚无，无始亦无终。这些作品唤起云朵转瞬即逝、不断变化的特质，让爪哇甘美兰与其他文化的乐器相遇。
Guqin, viola, gamelan and percussion do not dissolve into a common style. Coexistence means negotiating a shared sonic space while each identity remains audible. Thow Xin Wei, who performed in II and III, once described playing gamelan as walking with a group of friends: people move together without marching in lockstep; someone may go ahead or fall behind, but the group paces itself.
古琴、中提琴、甘美兰与打击乐并不融化成单一的风格。共存，意味着在共享的声音空间中彼此协商，同时让每一种身份都清晰可闻。参与演出《II》与《III》的 Thow Xin Wei 曾把演奏甘美兰比作与一群朋友同行：大家一起前进，却不齐步行进；有人走在前面，有人落在后面，但整个群体自有步调。
In Luminous Clouds III, the players tuned to a historical gamelan from the collection of the Asian Civilisations Museum, so that difference itself became structurally active.
